Baseball Introduction to the Addition of Positive and Negative Integers

1.

The parenthesis sign () is put around a number to separate the positive sign from the negative sign. Example 6 + (-)3. When the baseball player(s) is running toward home plate (positive sign (+)) and they meet another player(s) running away from home plate (negative sign (-)), those running away from home plate will turn around and cover baseball players running toward home plate. We want to see how many baseball players are left uncovered running away from or toward home plate.
