Knights Introduction to the Division of Positive Integers

1.

The Forest has underground tunnels and when the KNIGHTS are in the underground tunnels

the HORSES standing above ground will be shared equally between the KNIGHTS. The number

of KNIGHTS in the tunnel indicates how many  GROUPS will be created.

Example: There are 4 HORSES above ground and in the underground tunnel there are

2 KNIGHTS. The 2 KNIGHTS will form 2 GROUPS and each KNIGHT will have 2 HORSES each.

4 / 2   = 2  GROUPS of  KNIGHTS with each KNIGHT having 2 HORSES in their GROUP.

Example: There are 9 HORSES above ground and in the underground tunnel there are

3 KNIGHTS. The 3 KNIGHTS will form 3 GROUPS and each KNIGHT will have 3 HORSES each.

9 / 3   = 3  GROUPS of KNIGHTS with each KNIGHT having 3 HORSES in their GROUP.

When we do division problems we are always trying to determine how many HORSES are

in each GROUP.
