Lions and Tigers Introduction to the Division of Positive Integers

The Jungle has underground tunnels and when the LIONS are in the underground tunnels the TIGERS standing above ground will be shared equally between the LIONS. The number of LIONS in the tunnel indicates how many GROUPS will be created.

Example: There are 4 TIGERS above ground and in the underground tunnel there are 2 LIONS. The 2 LIONS will form 2 GROUPS and each LION will have 2 TIGERS each.    4 / 2  =  2 GROUPS of LIONS with each LION having 2 TIGERS in their GROUP.

Example: There are 9 TIGERS above ground and in the underground tunnel there are 3 LIONS. The 3 LIONS will form 3 GROUPS and each LION will have 3 TIGERS each.  9 / 3   =  3 GROUPS of LIONS with each LION having 3 TIGERS in their GROUP.

When we do division problems we are always trying to determine how many TIGERS are in each GROUP.
